Various types of approaches have been developed for ascorbic acid detection. Most of these methods were intricate and time—consuming, and some of these usually required specialized and expensive instruments. Compared to other detection methods, luminescent methods have attracted more attention due to their good reproducibility and high sensitivity. The sensitized luminescence of lanthanide ions in complexes with organic ligands has been widely used for the determination of various inorganic and organic anions that are not the sensitizers of lanthanide luminescence, but can increase or quench its intensity.
